What you need to know about your Engagement Session... | Adelaide Engagement Photographer

I love engagement sessions! They are fun and relaxing and when I begin photographing weddings it will often be the first time I really get to know a couple before the big day. They are also great because they show a time in your life that is often short-lived - the carefree, in-love time. They get couples used to being in front of the camera before the wedding.

Engagement sessions also provide photos for you to use on Save the Date cards, to be displayed at your wedding venue or to be made into an albumn for guests to sign in on the wedding day.

OR if you're not engaged, couple photos are great to give as presents to your parents, future in-laws, grandparents, and the list goes on (Just ask Luke and I, we gave a picture of us to EVERYONE last christmas!)

Location, Location, Location
I love when the couple chooses the location. It is always a representation of who they are and their personal style. The couple is always more comfortable and the photos are a better showcase of who they are. I love shooting at all types of locations, everything from urban city areas to romantic open paddocks. You can choose more than one location (and outfit!) for your session if you want to have two different feels for your photos.

What to wear?
This is a popular question, everyone wants to know what to wear to the engagement session. Here are a few tips to make sure you look your best for your engagement photos!
  • Be Yourself…choose outfits that represent who you are as a couple. Wear something you will be comfortable in.
  • Coordinate - Some people think that for the pictures to look good you have to be matchy-matchy. It is much better to wear outfits that work together, but don’t match. Instead of wearing the same color, wear a different shade of the same color, or colors that coordinate.
  • Consider having your hair and makeup professionally done, it can be a great trial for the wedding and will make you feel extra confident and gorgeous! (I recommend the girls at Peach Palette - they are fabulous)
  • Accessorise! Textures and layers look great in photos…and scarves, belts, cute shoes and chunky jewelry are always fun!
  • Fun props that have meaning for your relationship are always welcome. Some couples also like to bring along items such as wooden numbers which they like to incorporate and then use the image on their 'Save the Date' cards.
  • Above all, be confident and feel beautiful. This will make a bigger difference in your photos than a cute outfit ever could!
A post isn't complete without a photo...I love tender moments like this...
